Private equity and venture capital short term performance have started to recover from the downturn in 2008, while long term returns enjoyed by investors remain robust, according to data for 2009 complied by Thomson Reuters in association with EVCA.
The industry experienced a 60 per cent increase for Q1, according to the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA), when the increase in fundraising was driven mainly by growth capital funds and buyouts.
Whilst the long term performance of the European private equity industry has decreased slightly since December 2008, it remains strong, with private equity IRR at 8.9%, 11.9% for buyouts and 1.6% for venture funds.
