Edwards also served as Chief Marketing Officer for Sonus Networks, a Massachusetts-based firm offering VoIP technology for both wireline and wireless services providers. He also was Vice President of Indirect Sales and Channel Development at AT&T Business Services, and was President of BT Visual Images, a BT Group company focused on the design and distribution of videoconferencing systems.

In his new role, Edwards will lead NeuStar's ENUM-related business initiatives, including wireless message routing service WMRS and SIP-IX, which enables direct network-to-network peering via Session Initiation Protocol-based technologies. The company also offers NRS, a number resolution service that NeuStar manages on behalf of the GSM Association.
